Noblit Cemetery - Est. 1860

Noblit Cemetery - Gate

As you approach the Cemetery on the access road, the first thing you see is the gate. The road to the gate is up a small hill, thus the leaning look of the gate.

Mary A. Gant's family lived on a hill behind the Newton Place. Archibald Balch owned the Newton place and it was divided between his children. His son Hiram lived there after Archibald died. Then Hiram's widow and second husband George W. Hendrix lived there. Later, it was sold to Thomas H. Noblit, Sr. This was T. H. Noblit's daughter, Orlena Noblit Newton's share of the estate. Lewis Houston and Lizzie (Balch) Cole were W. C. Cole's grandparents. The house is now owned by Carolyn White and Sam Hale. Carolyn is the Great Granddaughter of Thomas H. Noblit, Sr. and Granddaughter of Mary Noblit Lytle.
