The Blan children grew up in a small four room house located east of McCurtain and about 1 1/2 miles north of Highway 31 on the Le Flore/Haskell county line.
Ruth's sister, Nora Belle Blan married Robert Lynn Stanley.
The following are to stories (memories) of Nora Belle (Blan) Stanley.
On the land near their home was a single small Christmas tree.
One Christmas season, Nora Belle decided to cut the little tree.
The following is the story of her father's reaction to cutting the little tree.
A Christmas Story
Kenneth Clyde started working in the shaft/underground coal mines at the age of 14 and
continued to work in the mines near McCurtain, Haskell County, OK until they stopped operation/closed.
Nora wrote this story of her father working in the coal mines.
A Coal Miner's Daughter
Nora married, Robert Lynn Stanley, who is a descendant of this famous Stanley person:
Stanley, Thomas - 1st Earl of Derby
Mary Marie (Miller) Ingram was Ruth and Nora's maternal grandmother.
Atwood Dillard married Mary Marie (Miller) Ingram after Mary's first husband passed.
Atwood played minor league baseball for a while in his younger days. Atwood sent a family friend a postcard with a picture of him in uniform. This card was later given to a Kenneth Dupree Blan, the oldest son of Kenneth and Eddie Belle Blan.
