I am a member of the San Antonio Genealogical and Historical Society.

At our Founders Day Luncheon, May 7, 1966, our President, Mrs. Sparkman, placed at each plate, a poem which she had written.

I have asked for and received her permission to enter this poem in this book, as a closing thought to you.

LET OUR ANCESTORS LIVE

by
Mary Louise (Parramore) Sparkman
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Our Ancestors are dead if we do not care,
To know their name; when and where.
We'll miss an amazing mystery.
If we are not interested in family history.
We might discover something bad with the good
But we wouldn't change it if we could.
For as we search for them in the past,
They are brought to life at last.
Therefore, no matter what their status might be
Let's keep them alive in our memory.
